Bridget McMahon
Bridget McMahon's passionate voice returns...
to sing traditional Irish songs given a fresh new sound, plus haunting new songs featuring special guests Vikki Clayton, members of Govannen and Celtic harper France Ellul. Produced by Chris Conway

background
After the success of Celtic Woman Chris & Bridget took some time selecting songs for a new album, with help from her sister Adele. Chris brought 3 originals to the table - Avalon Moon, was ortiginally planned for a Vikki Clayton album, Child of the Moon which was a tune Chris wrote for a Celtic harper France Ellul's album that he'd put words to, and a Destiny's Dance, especially written for this album.

She Moved Through The Fair was a song Bridget has sung with Govannen for years so was a natural choice. A Stor Mo Chroi, As I Roved Out and The Rocks of Bawn were chosen by Bridget, and The Blacksmith suggested by Adele though Chris's arrangement is very different from the famous Planxty version. Chris chose The Trees They Grow High, having been taken with Alan Stivell's version.

Chris set about creating the music and Bridget flew over 3 times from her home in Ireland to Chris's Oblong Studios to complete the vocal parts.

biography
Bridget McMahon has been singing and playing music since she was a child - he father is a singer of traditional songs from County Clare. She fist appeared in acoustic clubs and Irish music sessions with her sister in Leicester UK. She attracted attention which led to her joining various groups such as The Sisters of Murphy.

She recorded with bands Endorphin and Saoirse and joined the band Govannen, recording atmospheric vocals alongside Vikki Clayton on their acclaimed Healing Waters album. She left the band to move with her young family to Ireland but returned to record on Govannen's Celtic Fire album and play some concerts with them.

Bridget lives in the remote west coast of Ireland in County Mayo. Her two children, Saoirse and Daniel, take up much of her time but she continues play concerts, solo and in a duo with Eamon Wilson which in 2007 took her to Dublin, England and Croatia and singing live on Irish Radio.

An instrumental version of Child of the Moon can be heard on France Ellul's Spirits of the Moon album titled as "Moonchild".

Producer Chris Conway's favourite track is The Trees They Grow High. He was so pleased with the arrangement that he nearly held on to it for his own album but realised Bridget's voice gave it some real magic.
