background
Piano improvisations, recorded at full moon, 8th April 2020 at Aloft Studios, Leicester UK.
When Covid-19 changed the world, for a while I could not focus on playing any music. I first recorded some dark improvisations on a range of instruments, now released as Strange New World. But I wanted to go home to my first instrument the piano and connect to the music and capture how I felt.
The April Super Full Moon arrived and it seemed the perfect time as I’d had such a wonderful connection at full moon on my A Full Moon Summer Night’s Dream recording. Unlike that album, rather than one long track, I chose to play several smaller pieces. Full moon does have a strange effect on me and the like that other album, the music that flowed was sparse and quiet, perhaps also reflecting the weeks of isolation I had been living under, but on the last piece I felt great joy and a strong connection.

This is my 7th piano album, and my 6th of piano improvisations.
Some of these pieces, along with some others, I have sent to my friend Jim Tetlow from Memory Wire and we shall weave ambient electronics around them for our next album.
